Three years ago I was working 100 hours a week, hating my job and sliding deeper and deeper into $30,000 of credit card debt despite being amazingly frugal. When blogger-stylist Erin Hiemstra of Apartment 34 decorated a den/office for this Sunset Magazine house tour, she stole the spotlight with a California state marquee light that she found at a local flea market. Made of reclaimed old-growth redwood and automobile-grade aluminum, the marquee features 13 lightbulbs representing the state's major cities.

I work with the best photographers in the world to capture how my lights actually look, but there is still no substitute for being front of one. To experience their huge scale or the soft glows that only reclaimed wood can cast, you have a few options:
